Interesting Times

My life right now definitely falls in the category of "interesting" in all its meanings. Unfortunately I don't think dwelling/venting/expressing it here would do me any good. Maybe once things settle down I'll say more.

What I will say is that the job search is going very well and I'm pretty excited about something that may (hopefully will) come through soon. Not only would it make my life a lot less "interesting," but it would also be something I'd really enjoy. Fingers crossed.

I've posted some more pictures to my Flickr account. I'm particularly excited about these because they include a bunch of images of the tile backsplash in the kitchen. It's looking great and I can't wait to see what else gets done this week.

I'm sure I forgot to mention in the last couple of weeks that the condo is all taken care of now. We have to move some furniture out of it in the next couple of weeks, so the new tenant can move in. It's nice to have that (almost) done.

Okay, go check out the pictures!

More Pictures

More house pictures over in my Flickr stream. These are pictures of all the rooms with the new cabinets in place; so the kitchen and the bathrooms. Oh, and they finished the rock on the outside of the house, which looks great.

Check it out!

Still Moving

One of the things I figured out a long time ago is that when things aren't going well, you just have to keep moving. So, despite the fact that I don't yet have a job and it's getting pretty stressful, I can't just give up. Instead I have to keep moving, keep applying, keep making connections, and make sure something comes through in the next couple of weeks.

It's not fun, but never stopping is what's gotten me through some tough spots in the past, so I'm sticking with it.

I've had some interviews for some interesting positions and I'm hoping one of them comes through soon.

I picked up a bunch of stuff from storage last week and finally got it listed on ebay yesterday. All of this is from a former co-worker. He doesn't have time to do it and he knows I can use the money right now, so I really appreciate it. There are 20 items up there now. Every time I list things I'm surprised at how much work it is even after doing it a number of times already.

I think Julia and I are headed to see the house tonight. Her mom called yesterday and said there were seven trucks outside. We think they were putting the cupboards in, so we're jazzed to see it again. Hopefully we'll have some pictures to show off again soon. Sorry, if you're sick of them.

On the gaming front we wrapped up the current run of REIGN last night. Wil ran it and the whole series of games was great. Based on the amount of experience points my character has, I think we played a good 10 or 12 sessions with two major storylines; one with a necromantic cult and the other with traitors in the government trying to overthrow the leadership while the Duchess was away. Surprisingly, everyone in the Tuesday game is interested in checking out D&D 4th Edition, so we're going to start that in a couple of weeks. Thankfully, I don't have to run. It's just too much to take on at the moment. Maybe this fall.

I'm going to go edit now.

Not Much

I haven't been writing much here lately because I've been dedicating as much time as possible to finding a new job. And really, it's not much fun to go through, let alone write about. There are also some aspects of it that I really don't want to put online for a variety of reasons.

I will say, however, that I didn't get the job that I did the test for last week. I was bummed about that because it looked very interesting and seemed to be a good fit.

I had a phone interview today and that went well, so I'll be going to meet with them next week.

That's really about all on that front. Something else may come through, but I dunno.

I just wrapped up selling a number of things on ebay and then picked up a bunch of new stuff yesterday from storage. I'm going to take pictures and write up descriptions for those as soon as I sign off here. I have some great stuff this time, so I'm hoping they sell well.

My editing project is going well and I made it a little more than half-way this week. I should finish that up with another day of concentrated effort, which means I'll get it done a week or two before the deadline. At least that's the plan.

Oh, I stopped by the local Staples and picked up a $15 keyboard to replace my last one. I'd had it for, umm, 15 years and it finally started having some issues. In this case the 'r' and 'g' buttons didn't like to work reliably. That's a bad thing when you're trying to edit something. The new keyboard isn't fancy, but it works great and is quite a bit smaller than the last one. I didn't need a wireless model, so that saved some money.

Okay, time to go take pictures and write descriptions. Hopefully I'll have some good news about work soon. Wish me luck.

Even More

We took some more pictures of the house last night.

They'd poured the concrete sometime in the last week and it looks pretty sweet.

Check out the six or so new images in my Flickr badge on the right.

More Pictures

Julia and I took some new pictures over the weekend. The dywall is up thoughout the house, so it's really looking good now.

I think I say that everytime I post some new photos.

Anyway, check them out over in my Flickr stream over to the right if you want.

Within A Minute

I received two emails within a minute of each other this morning.

One was to tell me that I didn't get one of the jobs I'd applied and interviewed for last week.

The other was from a friend from high school saying that one of our classmates had been killed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. I can only imagine that my mom is the only person who will remembe Frank "Mugsy" Newer, but he was a very, very good friend of mine in grade school and junior high. I haven't had any contact with him in well over 20 or 25 years or so, but I have a lot of fond memories of him and his brother John.

I found his obit online and found out something about what he's been up to for the last couple of decades. I hope he had a good life, because I remembe him as being a great guy who really deserved it.

Woohoo, what a happy morning.
