On the Record

I just wanted to go on the record about a few things.

First; Jason (see link at right) is awesome. He's not only going to help Julia and I move next weekend, but he's agreed to come over tomorrow afternoon with his truck and help me take some things over to Goodwill. How cool is that?

I have furniture and accessories that I've been using since my freshman year of college. Now that I'm moving again, I decided it was time to do away with some of the old crap as well as things that Julia and I think we won't use at the new house for whatever reason. It'll be great to get rid of it because it means we don't have to move it. That'll be easier on everyone -- especially considering how many boxes of books I have.

Second; Skype is awesome. If you're not familiar with it, Skype is a program that allows you to talk over the Internet using your computer. It's a free download (but you can pay to get a Skype phone number and voicemail) and then you just need a mic and earpiece. I found one at Comp USA for about $15, so now I can talk "for free" over the net. Oh, sure, I spent over a thousand for my computer and $65 a month for my cable Internet connection, but I still consider it free. Especially when compared to using too many minutes on my cell phone. Crikey! We used Skype today to have a company-wide meeting, which was amazing considering we're in four different cities.

Finally; while going through my things, I found some old copies of Campaign Magazine. I paged through them and I'd forgotten all the stuff I'd written for it over the course of its life. I read through some of it and really enjoyed what I'd written. I particularly liked the Devil's Playground setting for d20 Modern. I don't know how it is for others, but I'm rarely happy with anything I write when I finish it, but if I come back to it later, I usually find that I enjoy it a lot. Now, I just wish I could find the original files for those articles. It appears I don't have electronic copies of them anywhere, which is kind of a bummer.

More later.

If it makes you feel even a tiny bit better, Jon, when my computer died in March I lost pretty much everything I'd written in the last eight years. That was pretty tough on the psyche.

Yeah, I can see where that would suck, Scott. Luckily, I (at least) have the hardcopies of the articles in the form of the magazines. And if I really want them, I could transcribe them into a new Word document. Fun.

Jon,

In regards to your invatation to help you move that was passed on to me today, you know, if I was in Seattle I would help out.

Now, seeing that I would be willing to help if I was there, the least you could do is just save all that old furniture for me and I'll get it sooner or later. Really, I don't think Jason will mind moving it. ;)
