Ready to Go

The past few days have been good. I've been busy at work trying to make my missions perfect so they can be sent to testing. I have a few of them done, but I have many more to do tomorrow and then when I return from Seattle in a couple of weeks.

I've been needed a break, so this weekend, instead of going to work on Saturday like usual, I stayed home and just did whatever came to mind. It was nice and I can't really say I have anything to show for it, but that was sort of the point. I filled my time with playing a bit of a game called Torchlight, cleaning my room, getting things packed up for my trip home tomorrow (Monday), running to the mall, and reading a large portion of Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. I may actually finish that tonight. I'll go back to reading it as soon as I'm done writing this.

This past week I sent a box of things off to my mom and she said she'd already received both my box and the box Julia sent. I wish I could be there with them for the holiday. It's been too long since I've been back for Christmas. Maybe next year. Mom said she's sent four packages, but so far Julia's only received two of them. Maybe there'll be more delivered tomorrow.

I take off tomorrow in the late afternoon and arrive in the evening. I'm sure it'll be busy at the airport, but I'm also sure it'll be better than if I were traveling a day or two later!

When I get back I'll be spending much of my time taking care of my girl after she gets some work done on her foot. I'm sure she'll need to sleep quite a bit, so I'm brining some books I want to read back with me. I'll be able to pass the time quietly and either sit with her in bed or downstairs, whichever she prefers.

I'm looking forward to being home. I miss that girl.

Christmas is Coming

I forgot to mention in my last update that Sunday while I was doing laundry and then some shopping in the afternoon, my landlady was busy with a friend downstairs decking the halls with all sorts of Christmasy doo-dads. It was quite a transformation and it really looks very nice. It's also helped get me in the mood for the holidays a bit, which is nice.

I shipped a box off to my parents' place with gifts for my dad, nephews, and some goodies for my mom and grandma, too. It was good to get that taken care of.

That's all I have for today!

Preparations!

I left work at a decent time tonight in order to run some Christmas errands. I'm not giving anything away (to my mom) when I say I went to the drug store to print out some more wedding pictures for my family back home. They'll be going in a package I'm planning to send out tomorrow with a gift for my dad and some things for my nephews.

I also (finally) found a gift I'd been looking for for Julia. I can't say what that is, because she reads this. Sorry, Cutie!

I spent the rest of this evening writing up a blog post for my game blog. I've been meaning to write some more there for a while and my new game is perfect for that.

I finished the book I was reading, Assassin's Apprentice, and have moved onto Slaughterhouse Five. I'm really looking forward to that. In fact, I think I'm going to go read some of it now!

One week from tonight and I'll be back in Seattle for the holidays!

What's the Deal?

Another week gone by and no updates. It appears after a couple of weeks of excitement and regular updates I've fallen back into my old habits. Once again I can only claim that really, not much has been happening.

I finished the Dragon Age game I was playing on the computer. That was good.

I've continued to read the book I started on my last trip to and from Seattle.

Work has been good. I finished a pair of linked missions that were pretty freakin' complicated and started and finished another mission this week, which is great! I have my boss looking over them now to see what he thinks of them and to point out anything that needs fixing.

I ran another session of the Song of Ice and Fire game I started. That's going well.

Julia seems to have finally lost the cough she's had since her cold over a month ago -- well over a month ago now that I think about it. She also noticed that the restaurant we really liked for a weekend breakfast has been closed due to issues with the IRS. That made us sad. It was a nice little place that was always busy, but never too busy.

I did some Christmas shopping online earlier this week, so most of that's taken care of now. And really, I'm just looking forward to going home in a little over a week to spend some time with my girl in my house. Seth's invited us to a post-Christmas get-together and his and Melissa's place and I'm planning to go. Hopefully Jason and Liz will be there. It'd be nice to catch up with them.

I hope I have something exciting happen (relatively speaking) in the next few days that's post-worthy. Regardless, I'll keep you all updated with what's going on.

Goings On

My work is going well. I'm still very slow, but I'm making steady progress and learning quite a bit. Mostly the repetition on this particular mission I'm working on has been good since it's helped me remember the processes for a couple of different functions. Now I need to do even more of that. Hopefully Friday I'll be able to finalize the mission and get people to play through it. Though, I should say "them" since it's actually two missions, one inside the other. Anyway, that's my hope.

I picked up Jim from the airport Wednesday evening. I was surprised he arrived on time while traveling from St. Louis to Chicago to San Jose, but it all worked out despite the storms in the Midwest. He's back at work and enjoying his new position. He'll definitely be able to contribute more meaningfully in that job.

Tonight I ran a great session of the Song of Ice and Fire game. This was the second session and it's been great so far. The players seem to be clicking, the characters are interesting, and it's always nice to socialize with your co-workers, boss, and boss' boss.

Tomorrow's Friday, so I'm gearing up to do a bunch of work for Green Ronin over the weekend and I have lots to do for them. We have a big new project that we just learned is actually going to happen and we're all pretty excited about it. But that means some extra work for me!

I am very tired, so it's time to read a chapter of my book, then hit the sack.
