What's Up?
The weekend before last Julia and I had some breakfast and afterward it was so nice out that we decided to go out and do some work in the yard. We spent most of the time cutting limbs off a tree that tipped over during the windstorms in December. We know we have to get it cut down, but it's resting comfortably against another very solid tree, so we have some time. Of course we're going to get it taken care of soon. It's a corkscrew willow (or something like that), so we clipped a bunch of the smaller branches so they can be used in centerpieces and such. And I know Julia will use some for her jewelry displays.
We also moved a vine from where it would have been plowed under (when construction starts next door) and moved it next to the house. We'll probably do that same for some other plants, too. Exciting, eh?
Since October, Julia and I have been watching DVDs of The Sopranos and I'm happy to report that as of about a week or so ago, we've watched all six seasons that are available so far. We really enjoyed the whole run and I'm amazed how consistantly good it is season after season.
Last week I finished editing the 131-page world bible for the new company. It took a long time to edit -- possibly as long as it took Robin to write it. Which is a little scary. (I'm sure I'm exaggerating there, but probably by a lot less than you'd think.) The document is great and I'm excited to get rolling on releasing tidbits over the course of the company's existence.
After a break for the holidays I've hopped back into gaming. I ran D&D for the past two Sundays and both sessions went well. I had a bit of a hard time coming up with the overarching plot, but I think I have something I can stretch out for a while now, but still allows me and the players enough freedom to do almost anything we want. Right now they're in the midst of clearing out a keep that their patron was given. It's supposed to be empty, but apparently the bandits didn't know that.
The other game is Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, or WFRP, on Tuesdays. We had a player or two drop out of the Tuesday game last Fall, so we were a little short on players. I'm very happy to say that two guys that Seth and I played with a while ago, Johnzo and Wilhelm, have joined us. I'm really happy about that. Johnzo and Wil are both great guys and I've really wanted to see them a lot more regularly. Since everyone is interested in playing WFRP on an ongoing basis, it looks like that's going to work out. So far everyone is enjoying the game. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it going. For some reason I had a difficult time coming up with a good plot, so I'm borrowing from a published adventure.
And lastly, Julia's granddad passed away Saturday night. He went in for some surgery a month ago and there were some bad aftereffects. Anyway, Julia's been busy with her family and getting things taken care of for the memorial on Saturday. He was a very good guy and I know he's well-loved.

You know,
I might indeed be interested in playing WFRP. I've not seen the newest edition, but if it's anything at all like the old version, I'd l ove to spend time with "the gang" again.
And strive beyond my lowly station of rat-catcher
